This is a short explanation about the recent down time of website and VPN service:
First of all, we are really sorry about the website going down during last weekend.
Last Friday(3/4), a system engineer at Hurricane Electric data center was performing a memory upgrade on our server. However, it caused the server system corruption due to unknown reasons; so the website went down and the Fremont VPN server was down, too. Tokyo, Singapore, and Hong Kong servers were not affected. We spent the whole weekend with the system engineer and senior engineers to figure out the reason, but unfortunately we failed.
Therefore, I re-built the server on Sunday night and restored all the data from backup. It was finished just now. Fortunately, the restoration was successful and NONE of the data was lost.
The website and Fremont VPN server are now back online, and ALL data was integrate. We are working on creating some warm backup servers to avoid these things from happening again.
